Learning Management System reader console

This Learning Management System reader console gives the reader three connected views of the curriculum. A left dock tracks checkpoints, a 3D trail map carries the whole curriculum as one route up a mountain, and lessons open in place. The studio designed and built the system and operates it.

This is a studio build, designed, built, and operated in-house.

What had to exist

The reader needed a console that could hold a complete curriculum, show its checkpoints, and open the lesson at hand, all in one interface, so the route and the reading space never disconnect.

The finished structure has three parts with three distinct jobs: a left dock, a central 3D trail map, and lessons that open in place.

The reader console: dock, trail map, lesson in place.

The checkpoint decision

The checkpoint list lives in a dock at the left edge of the console, giving the curriculum a stable, trackable sequence alongside the main view.

Splitting checkpoint tracking out of the 3D map was deliberate. The dock answers "where am I in the sequence." The map answers "where does this sit in the whole course." Cramming both jobs into one surface would have done both badly.

The route decision

The 3D trail map carries the whole curriculum as one route up a mountain. Every checkpoint has a physical place on that route, so progress reads as climbing instead of checkbox-clearing.

The map and the dock describe the same curriculum at different altitudes, and that redundancy is the point. Sequence in the dock, relationship on the map.

The lesson decision

Lessons open in place inside the console. No navigation away, no losing the trail. The reading task stays inside the structure that holds the checkpoints and the route.

That choice also kept the product honest about what it is: a reader console. Checkpoints, route, and lesson content all belong to one working surface.

What shipped

The studio designed, built, and operates the Learning Management System reader console. The shipped system includes:

  • A left dock that tracks checkpoints
  • A 3D trail map that carries the curriculum as one route up a mountain
  • Lessons that open in place
